What we’re about

We are a fun and friendly social group of women in their 40s and older who love having new experiences. We enjoy a variety of events such as dinners, theatre & movie nights, leisure activities like paint nites, community events & festivals, visiting local attractions, volunteer opportunities, as well as weekend & day excursions. All events are optional - you choose to attend the ones that interest you. If you are looking for entrepreneurial/marketing opportunities there will not be any! We are all about socializing together, welcoming and making connections with other EW 40+ gal, enjoying new experiences, and simply having fun! Do come join the EW 40+ sisterhood!
We have a few EW policies to help keep a fun vibe to our little group:
1. RSVPs
Please RSVP "yes" to events you are committed to attending. If you RSVPs "yes", and are NO LONGER ABLE TO ATTEND, it is your responsibility to update your RSVP on the MeetUp app as soon as possible. If you cancel your RSVP with less than 24 hours notice you will be marked as a NO SHOW. Please understand that these events only happen with organizers who are willing to donate their time to organize events and repetitive cancellations are an additional burden for both the host and the venue.
NO SHOWS: EW 40+ reserves the right to cancel the membership of any member who, after RSVPing "yes" to an event, fails to show up at that event or cancels with less than 24 hours notice to three (3) events.
2. PROFILE PICTURE & FIRST NAME
It is necessary to have a clear & CURRENT profile picture so that the organizers will know who to look for at events as well as for the safety of our members. We also ask that you have at least a first name as part of your profile.
3. MEMBERSHIP FEES
The membership fees collected are vital to keeping our little group active - Meetup Organization charges us considerable fees for the website space they give us to run our group on. While some other groups may absorb or recoup those fees in different ways, to keep the EW fun going, our group appreciates and relies on the contribution of its members via minimal yearly membership fees!
WITHIN 30 DAYS OF JOINING, YEARLY MEMBERSHIP FEES OF $12 ARE PAYABLE AND EACH YEAR THEREAFTER. Stripe is the payment vendor for MeetUp, however, we have noticed they are taking fees in US funds. If you wish to pay directly in Canadian funds, please reach out to Fay (Organizer) to arrange e-transfer.
4. EVENTS/MEMBERSHIPS
ALL MEMBERSHIP FEES MUST BE PAID TO DATE AS DESCRIBED ABOVE TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR MEETUP EVENTS. MEMBERS WHO ARE SIX MONTHS BEHIND ON MEMBERSHIP FEES WILL BE CONSIDERED INACTIVE AND EW 40+ LEADERSHIP RESERVE THE RIGHT TO THEN REMOVE MEMBERSHIP.
5. MEETUP AND PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK:
As a note of caution event organizers and event hosts are not liable or responsible for any loss or damage that a member may suffer from your activities during a posted event. You understand and agree to join at your own risk.
6. PHOTOS AT EVENTS
As we are a social group, event hosts will often request a group picture for posting on the MeetUp event page. This photo is not shared on any other social media platforms and you will not be tagged. In smaller settings you are able to opt out of photos at your request.
7. TICKETS FOR EVENTS
Some events require purchase of a ticket in advance (concert, theatre, etc.). If you can no longer attend, it is the purchasers responsibility to try to re-sell their ticket. While the event host can try to help they cannot guarantee re-sale of your ticket.
