## Details
Let's explore the several state parks and trailways around an hour radius from Fort Richardson State Park for camping and several hikes. Most are easy to moderate natural paths, but check each hike MeetUp for details.
First time visit for me to most of the places, so probably more orienting than our local hikes in Houston area.
Planned route in photos of each MeetUp as well as section from brochures for an overview. Trails are rugged natural trails unless otherwise indicated. If multi-use, they are bike oriented and you will need to navigate some features on foot. Boots and poles recommended!
This is open to all, but is part of a week-long visit to the the Jackboro, TX area by members hiking groups out of Houston. We are amateur hikers who enjoy visiting new locations around the world and favorites all around the Houston area and Texas in general. Check us out on Meetup if interested in more.
We'll be camping before starting the hike, so please watch for updates each morning to see if we needed to adjust anything. That said, we will strive to start on time and follow the plan!
Likewise, please keep us informed if there are any changes to your plan and formally remove yourself from the Meetup event whenever possible by changing your RSVP.
Caveats:
I am by no means a professional guide, so please be responsible for your own safety, be prepared to navigate on your own, and be physically able to enjoy the hiking. All levels of experience welcome, but be sure to inform us beforehand of any accommodations or particular interests and we'll go from there. I have no ego involved in the route or pace, so just keep me informed if you are faster or slower than the main body of the group or have suggestions.
Weather:
Average weather is pretty moderate in October, but be prepared! Temps usually range from low 50s at night to mid-70s daytime. Rainy 5 days per month.
Preparation:
IF hiking, be sure to train up for some long hikes! Some hills, so incline training a wise move. Ask me for tips and just let me know if you need accommodations. Participation at your own comfort level welcome!
IF camping, there is all sorts of advice available online, but ask away. Read the limitations based on state park policies. Sites and local conditions vary, so I will arrange things to comply as best I can.
