What we’re about
This is a book club for anyone interested in reading the old "Classics". Ever hear of such titles as: Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, A Tale of Two Cities, The Great Gatsby, Madame Bovary, Treasure Island, The Arabian Nights? You get the idea. We will read these timeless classics and then meet to discuss our thoughts and impressions. Of course, discussions are always a little more fun with a few refreshments/food thrown into the mix.
So, if you've ever wanted to read these types of books thinking it will be more fun to do so with a group, then this is the place for you.

Common Sense by Thomas Paine is one of the most influential works in American history, a passionate and eloquent call for independence that forever changed the course of a nation. First published in 1776, this clear and persuasive argument for the colonies' independence from Britain inspired the American colonists to break free from British rule and establish a government based on the principles of liberty, equality, and self-governance.
Credited by George Washington as having changed the minds of many of his countrymen, the document sold over 500,000 copies within a few months.
Historian Gordon S. Wood described Common Sense as "the most incendiary and popular pamphlet of the entire revolutionary era."
The text in is the public domain and there are many copies available on line, one of which is here (https://contextus.org/Common_Sense%2C_Introduction.1?lang=en).
